So last Friday we learned that Josh will be picking up Staff Sergeant! WOOO HOOOO!!! We weren't sure if it was going to happen this year, but hopes were still high. Now that we know, we can breathe a little easier. I'm glad that someone is finally recognizing all his hard work that he has put in over the past two years as a Drill Instructor. This tour is extrememly trying on our famiy, but we are making it through. Josh said that all this hard work would pay off and I guess he was right, so far anyway. I am so proud of him! He works long, exhausting hours and really deserves this. We aren't 100% sure where this promotion will take us. As of right now, Josh is planning on finishing his time in the Marine Corp and then getting back into the civilian world in July of 2008. Only time will tell!

Ginny

So I found this blog site through a classmate. I went to her page and thought, "Wow, what a cool way for people to keep tabs on what's going on!" So here I am...

Most of these postings will be from me, but I'm sure Josh may get on here sometimes and want to post something, but then again, maybe not.

So here's the skinney...

My name is Ginny and my husband's name is Josh. I work for a commercial real estate company and Josh is in the Marines. He currently is a Drill Instructor at Marine Corp Recruit Depot, San Diego. We have two boys, Jacob and James. Jacob turned 3 in July and James was 1 in June. Will there be a third???

We also have two miniature dachshunds, Chloe and Harley. We live in military housing, but not on base. It's a townhouse 4-plex, but luckily we have clean, nice neighbors. It's pretty nice for military housing. We have a fenced in backyard with plenty of room for the boys and the dogs. We drive a black 2004 Honda Civic and a Pewter 2001 Chevy Venture minivan. Josh was recently in a small fender bender that did almost $5,000 worth of damage just to our vehicle. The 2001 Ford Expedition he hit will most likely be totaled considering he did about $9,000 worth of damage to it. The van is now fixed.

Life is good. We miss our families terribly, but enjoy knowing the fact that one day soon, we'll be close by. Until then, what an exciting ride!

Ginny
